| Term | Plain meaning |

| Adaptive support | Help that changes based on what the participant is doing, instead of showing the same help to everyone. |
| Readiness | A score estimating whether the participant can keep going without extra help. |
| Cognitive load | How much mental effort the task appears to require at that moment. |
| Extraneous load | Extra effort caused by confusing interface behavior, errors, language friction, or context problems. |
| Governance | The rule system that decides when AGS should help and when it should stay quiet. |
| Signal confidence | How much AGS trusts the evidence in an event. Sparse events should not trigger strong conclusions. |
| Baseline | The first few interactions used to understand what normal speed/behavior looks like for this participant. |
| Cooldown | A short waiting period after help, used to avoid piling on interventions. |
| Capture mode | The technical method AGS uses to observe interaction: proxy, extension, limited mode, or offline replay. |
| Adaptation failure | A recorded case where help was ignored, conflicted with behavior, or made things worse. |
